Busy and Productive Hands
Life is often busy, even in the seemingly mundane. If you’re anything like me with two little toddlers, life always has something happening. Catching up on dishes, doing the laundry, cooking dinner, baking goodies to get you through the week, cleaning up highchairs, and sweeping the floor, seem like simple tasks, but purposefully put, they’re very worthwhile ones.
It’s important to keep busy. It’s vital to engage your mind and heart as well as your hands regularly! Proverbs 16:27 is a great reminder that: “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop”! This is true and realized not only in ourselves, but our children.
Purpose
When the busy and productive chores seem to lull, and you, like me, feel like you’ve spent your energy for the day, I find it extremely beneficial to find a fun activity to do together. Maybe you sort shapes, learn to count, memorize a verse, learn the 10 most important words in 3 different languages, go for a coffee, or take your littles to the park. Splash pads and pool time, in the summer, are excellent!
Autumn brings a whole new set of challenges, however, purposeful baking lessons, learning to share good treats with neighbors, and raking leaves are delightful ways to engage yourself and your children. Keep your hands busy and your tongues grateful!
Fun within the Purpose
My latest enjoyment, within trying to keep our hands engaged, our minds regularly learning new things, and up to date on all the mundane household chores, has been audiobooks!!
I’ve found a handful of delightful audiobooks on Youtube, for free. This has been such a treat! It’s been a little gift for me while helping me to stay encouraged, motivated, and focused where I need to be! Of late, the Wishing Well Series has been a favorite! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBXZ9s3iBsY&t=11735s
Audiobooks are wonderful while cooking, cleaning, and weeding! It keeps me excited and entertained while encouraging me to keep on task at home and help my children find a good routine and schedule.
